Avebury: August 2002

Arantza was able to visit us on her trip to England in 2002. We visited Avebury, which is 15 miles south of Swindon. It's the site of a Neolithic stone circle and fort. The site was destroyed during the Roman occupation (as it was a Druid temple) and the stone was used locally for building since. What remains of some of the stones have been found and replaced in the original positions, concrete markers indicate where the rest were situated. Spot where there was a crop circle in a recently harvested field.
